The Miller Doodle Experience:
Connecting with the Miller family has been a blessing. I had lots of concern about becoming a first time dog owner. I was even concerned that a good breeder would not entertain my interest due to inexperience. I found that the Millers were supportive of my interest and has been a resource for my first 3-1/2 months with our Pace. I have had lots of questions. The Millers' responses are always timely, and informative. I also like that this family does not run a puppy mill. They breed from their own pet in a home setting, where all the puppies are given a name (that you are welcome to change).
Choosing the Goldendoodle (from a first-time dog owner):
I chose the goldendoodle based on research. All of the information I learned has been accurate. She does not shed, not even a little!!! I brag at the doggie park and at the vet! It only took two weeks for my goldendoodle from the Miller's to learn housebreaking, using the crate training technique. At about 2 months of age she began to sit by the door to signal she needed to expel. She was retrieving balls and other toys since 2 1/2 months of age, and began bringing them back to drop them at my feet shortly thereafter. At 3 months she had learned the hand and verbal signals to "stay" while I prepared her food, and would not eat until I gave the hand command (snapping finger and pointing to food). She can communicate with me also by this time. She is happiest when with her (family) pack or other dogs. She's smart. At 4 months she responds to many commands, including sit, off, release, leave it, lay down, crate, Pace's bed, go upstairs, get in the car, and bye bye. Our doodle continues to get the attention of other dog owners and strangers. She has such a beautiful, fluffy yet silky coat that she rarely escapes compliments.

Sven and Laurie:
Bandit gets bigger every day. He weighed 62 pounds at about 5 months old. Those long poodle legs give him access to kitchen counters and thus an occasional meatball or loaf of banana bread but all in al he is very well behaved.
He walks at heel with some prompting, socializes well with the local dog community, has not had any accidents in the house in over 3 months, and has a cadre of tricks he enjoys showing off -- sit, lie down, roll over, speak, leave a treat on his paw while lying down until given the OK to eat it. He is crate trained for sleeping and when no one is home. Commands such as "come", "follow", "stay" are followed a majority of the time. Some nipping at hands and ankles while playing is largely gone, and with plenty of chew toys to keep him occupied he has not ruined any furniture (Though I will have to replace a few pieces of shoe molding in the breezeway between the garage and the kitchen-- one of Bandits favorite places to stretch and nap).
No issues with car sickness. Bandit is at home in the car, favoring the front pasenger seat whenever he thinks he can get away with it. He has had his ears trimmed/cleaned 2-3 times at the local Petsmart without any problems identified. He largely has the run of the house when we are home and is allowed to occupy either a love seat or couch in the family room. He has occasionally been caught napping on Eric's bed. Our guess is that Eric has him sleep in the bed with him periodically.
Bandit is a wonderful addition to our family and brings us great joy. Can't wait to see pictures of Sophie's next litter!

Jake is a bundle of joy and I can't see my life without him. He is healthy and very active. He learns quickly and loves to play. Everyone that he meets falls in love with him! They say he looks like a stuffed animal.
We had some issues in the early months with worms and upset stomach but all is clear now. The upset stomach was actually my fault. He was passing gas so often that I thought maybe I would change his food from what I originally put him on and I changed it too fast and then I realized that he is just fine with the original food. He enjoys everything, even taking pills. He is so easy to take care of and he lets us know when he needs to go out. He learned that around early December. Don't know if that is early, late or on time for learning. But otherwise prior to that all accidents in the house were our fault (not paying attention to the warning signs). He doesn't chew anything other than his toys and with those he doesn't ravage them, he just likes to chew the ears off of anything though. He loves soccer and tennis balls. He knows several tricks, sit, up, jump, down, speak,(working on "hello"), getting better with heel, come, inside, and stay. He still does not like car rides. He cowers away when he knows that I want him to get into the car. I try to make it an exciting trip like "going bye bye!" But hopefully he will come to enjoy car rides. I need to focus on that for a bit. The vet recommended non-drowsy dramamine. I believe that it works because he does not salivate as much when he is on it.
I would definitely get another doodle. But one at a time works best for now. Thank you again!! Can't wait to see the rest of the litter!
Jake says "HI!"

Hi there! Here are some recent pictures of Lola, after her first haircut. I trimmed her myself, since she was perennially tracking in tons of twigs and stuff in her long woolly hair. She looks about 40% smaller! It's amazing how much hair she has. She's about 45-47 lbs (I tried to weigh her, but she didn't stay still long enough...), is going to get fixed this week. She has no health issues, except for lots of ear wax in her left ear. So I just clean that one about every other day. She is well-behaved and sedate for a puppy. She goes for about 1.5-2 mile walks each evening, and otherwise plays in the backyard (I'll have to stop her digging in the spring once flowers are in...), and sleeps. She doesn't have too much of an appetite, though I have her on a high-protein, no-filler dog food (Orijen Puppy), and I've read that there is such high nutrition in that, they don't eat as much. She also doesn't beg or take food from grownups. It’s harder to enforce that rule with my daughter Avery, so sometimes Lola noses around Avery’s high-chair. She gets along very well with the cats. No shedding, really nearly none at all actually. We have all hardwood floors, and so if I don't sweep or vacuum for a week, there are some tufts of hair around, but it's mainly cat hair. When I comb her out (about 2-3/week) she does lose some, but I think that's more due to knots. Certainly she loses less than even the short-haired Siamese cat.
I've had a Cocker Spaniel, a Rottweiler, a Lab, and Dane mix in my life, and I have to say that Lola is the easiest to train by quite a bit. She's a pretty submissive/sensitive girl anyway, so I hardly even raised my voice with her, just a stern look and clapping my hands would stop her from doing things like jumping on the sofa, etc. She does sometimes still jump up when we get home or have company at first, but she's getting better. We make everyone tell her to sit and ignore her for the first few minutes when they come in. She was getting car sick for a while, but now she's over that. I take her in the car for errands, to the grocery store, etc. at least once a week. She has been to the professional groomers, but mainly I give her a bath here at home (and, like I said, did clip her hair myself). I'm afraid of doing the nails, so I get those done at the groomer about once a month or 6 weeks. I might try that pedi-paw thing, as my neighbor says he likes it for his dogs (I cut her quick a couple months ago, and that traumatized me more than Lola...)
Thanks! Vanessa

Hi Laurie,
It was so good to hear from you. The 6 month birthday's have come fast. Riley is a dream. My friends that have puppies/dogs say that Riley is the best puppy that they've seen. We had her in puppy class at 10 wks old and that really helped us learn how to train Riley. We crate her during the day while we are at school and work. She is unbelievably good. She loves to go in her crate since we always give her a little treat. When we get home it's her time to play, routy time. She loves to go on walks and play fetch. They are natural retrievers. Riley desperately wants to be friends with our two cats, but they aren't giving in...but she keeps trying. Riley thinks that humans are here just to pet her and say hi.
Riley doesn't shed at all as far as I can tell. We've had her groomed a couple of times at the groomers. She seems to like the pampering. Initially, she had an ear issue with yeast, but that was taken care of after a treatment, we clean her ears every week just to keep it from reoccuring. Riley doesn't do well in the car though. She wants to go with us, but she gets car sick. UGH....We've been taking her on little trips around the block or short trips and she seems to be getting better...I hope. Riley is my constant companion. She follows me everywhere. She just wants to be with people, very lovable, very smart and friendly to everyone..not a mean bone in her body. She just wants to love you, be petted and play. Riley has been such a joy to our small family of Morgan and myself, it's hard to explain the love that she gives day in and day out. The whole experience of first finding you on the web, talking to you and all our correspondences have been just wonderful. I don't have experience with buying puppies, but I don't think that many people had the wonderful experience of having caring people like yourselves to buy a treasure from.
Thank you for everything,
Mary Lou

Everything is going great! Marley is a love! She really is a compassionate friend - I can't imagine going back to not having her! She makes us all smile and is just so sweet! She is 40 pounds! Her health has been good except for some ear problems - lots of wax build up - so we have been to the vet a few times and she is now not eating beef anymore! They said she could possibly have an allergy to it? We go back in one week to see if the new cleaner is working - she was also on an anitfungal oral pill for her ears - keep your fingers crossed. We are also doing kindergarten classes with her twice a week - she loves going! She is so very friendly with both people and dogs. She loves the snow as you can see in the pics. She also loves her old baby bed - we got her a new bigger one but she still occasionally likes to take a snooze in the old one! Marley also loves going on long walks but the weather has been so cold lately that they're shorter, but more of them. Marley looks just like her mom! We get so many compliments on her color and coat - people have stopped us on the road when we are walking her.
Outside of Marley's normal vet visits for vaccinations we went to the vet for her ears, her eye (which had a little goo coming out for a couple of days - but cleared up real quick), and a period where she was having some soft stools (think she was just adjusting to her foods) - but other than that she has been fine. We may not have had to go for her eye and stools but we just wanted to make sure - being first time puppy parents.
The books we purchased were - Puppies for Dummies, Raising a Puppy (Monks of Skete) and Ceaser Milan's books- They were all very informative - all use positive reinforcement - and I do find the kindergarten classes really helpful - we are learning alot of valuable training information!
Thanks so much,
Liz & Marley
